As much as I hate to say it. I believe alot of racers and fans alike have all but written this track off. We have been without a consistent schedule for 3 seasons now. those who havent sold out have moved to other tracks and are racing in other programs. Instead of looking for that magic bullet why not start with a very simple yet solid program and get the racers coming back. Then maybe start working in the more risky ventures. I know its alot easier from the outside looking in, but I believe the constant inconsistency is whats driving racers away. I have seen this track run successful programs before and I know the potential is still there. Just my 2 cents worth.....

I will put my two cents worth in,believe that.lol We tried as hard as anyone to make that track work, but it broke us. With the weather and the lack of support from the racers,it just wouldn't work. Big events is all that is going to make any money there. We gave out 3000 free passes to the NHRA national event there and only got 800 turned in.It is a great track, just a mystery to me. In the middle of nowwhere. That 20 from shreveport seemed like a hundred. Good luck, hope someone can make it work.

sorry to hear you had bad luck molly..the weather has really hurt all of us this past year...i lost 61 out of 114 events due to weather at us19 dragway...ive been racing since 1973 and this year was the worst i had ever seen with weather...trrp is a really nice facility,i hope to see it back open soon...i do agree big events would be the way to go for success....

Im not trying or going to turn this into a pissing match but what some of you guys are not getting is this track cannot and willnot survive without special events that draw the people that dont normally go to the drag races. The owners are not going to keep shoveling money into the track just so yall have a place to run your cars, why should they its stupid.
Last year it started off like gang busters then just slowly petered away, there were nights that only twenty or so cars showed up, that wont even cover the light bill. There has been way too much infighting and bickering, if everyone wants this track to survive they're going to have to come together and face the reality of the situation and put their personal agendas away.

gmed, i agree that this year the track needs 2 have 3 or 4 big races to get people interested. but some of the intrest will come from work and getting community involvement by management. then after the track has positive attitude around it next year have a bi-weekly program with big events throughout the year! this track is 2 big 2 have a weekly program and there is a ton of competition in surrounding area. this track needs 2 make racers want to race here not drive them away by making it an ordeal 2 race at TRRP. i would even change the name, to involve the area such as shreveport international raceway or maybe the parish name worked into a name.

i would encourage a name change to shreveport raceway to link it to the community...i did this years ago when we bought southern dragway and changed the name to douglas motorsports park...it worked very well as we won 2006 ihra track of the year and chamber of commerce business of the year award the same year....whatever happens it needs to be rock solid no matter if its leased or managed in house by the owners,,this will secure a solid base of support..my biggest concern is profit for the owners and a great place to play for the racers that is fun and spectator appealing...this can be accomplished in many different ways..only time will tell how it will be accomplished but im certain david and hollis will do the correct thing for all involved..everyone please support these 2 guys as they have a huge investment in your drag racing future..

Ok, the AHRA thing didnt work out, we all just have to wait and hope the new owners can get this track open. Once open maybe they can figure out a way to move forward and make money. Sometimes you just have to find the right people to make a business work. This is a business. I just want to go there, pay to play and have a good time.

With all the land surrounding the track I wonder if anyone has cosidered making TRRP a true motorsports park. Possibly adding a pit for mud drags and maybe a track for the sand drag 4 wheelers. With the weather the way its been the last few years seems like mud would be easy to make. I dont think there is alot of track prep involved either. Ive seen mud drags really take off over the last few years.. Possibly help boost intrest in the track and bring in a little extra revenue.. I dont think with something like that inclement weather really affects the racing and can be run pretty much year round. Im pretty sure both have sanctioning bodies and have a full circuit that they run... Just a thought
